How to Get Pregnant When You Have Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a painful condition in which the endometrium (the tissue that lines the uterus) develops outside of the uterus. With endometriosis this tissue grows on the pelvic organs, (the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and the pelvic lining) inside the body cavity.
The tissue acts just as it would if it were lining the uterus, it thickens then breaks down and bleeds during menstruation. However, since it cannot escape the body it causes pelvic pain and complications during menstruation. It can also attribute to infertility. It also causes cysts on the ovaries called endometriomas. It is difficult to diagnose endometriosis as it must be diagnosed by diagnostic laparoscopic surgery.

What can you do when you have Endometriosis

If you suffer from endometriosis and wish to become pregnant all is not lost. If you are under age 35 you should try to become pregnant naturally for about 6 months first. If you are unsuccessful then you should see a fertility specialist for advice.
The severity of endometriosis is rated in stages 1 through 4. For women with the lower stages 1-2, pregnancy can often be achieved with fertility drugs like clomid or gonadotropins in conjunction with IUI (intrauterine insemination).
If pregnancy is not successful with fertility drugs and IUI, or if you are stage 3-4, you may need to undergo IVF procedures. For those with the more advanced stages of endometriosis surgery to remove endometrial deposits and cysts may improve their chances of becoming pregnant.

What are your odds of pregnancy success with Endometriosis

Pregnancy rates for those with endometriosis who utilized fertility drugs and IUI are about 3 times higher than those who tried to conceive naturally. Pregnancy rates for those with endometriosis who underwent IVF procedures were about 5 times higher than those who tried to conceive naturally. However, pregnancy success through IVF for those with endometriosis is slightly lower than for those with different fertility issues.

Dealing With the Emotions of IVF

The decision to start a family is a big one, and it should not be taken lightly. Imagine how distressing it would be to find out after deciding that you wish to start a family that it isn’t going to “just happen” as it does so often for others. There is still hope though. Through IVF you can still have that family you desire.

Emotional ride

Once you have spoken to your fertility doctor and have learned what to expect physically with IVF treatments, you should prepare yourself for the emotional aspect.

Beyond the fact that infertility and IVF procedures can be an emotional experience unto themselves, you also need to understand that the medications used for the IVF treatments can cause your hormones to take a ride, and along with them your emotions.

You are not alone

Keep in mind though that during these difficult times you never have to be alone with your worries and fears. There are support groups both online and in person that you can join and gain emotional support from people that are going through, or have gone through what you are going through.

You can also receive beneficial guidance from a personal therapist if you are uncomfortable with airing your personal feelings among a group of strangers. Friends and family can often be a valuable emotional crutch when you need someone to talk to.

They may not fully understand what you are going through but they love and care about you and so will lend a sympathetic ear in your times of need. Whichever path you choose it is wise not to bottle up these emotions but rather let them out so you can deal with them.

Geriatric Pregnancy: Child Birth after Menopause

A woman’s “prime” fertility is around the age of 25 years, plus or minus a few years. However she can become pregnant anytime after her first ovulation cycle up until her last ovulation cycle, then she hits menopause (usually around age 50 give or take a few years). The oldest woman to give birth was in her late 60’s, so anything is possible really.

Movie star Halle Berry gave birth at age 47 stating that she thought it wasn’t possible to become pregnant again at that age. Joining her in this miracle are actresses Jennifer Aniston who also became pregnant at age 47, and Kelly Preston also 47 years of age. Preston is quoted touting the “marvels of modern medicine” that enabled her to conceive at an age nearing menopause.

What is Menopause

Menopause is the time in a woman’s life when her ovulation cycle has ceased and she can no longer become pregnant. This usually happens around age 50, but it can occur much earlier or even much later. It is typically considered that it has occurred when you haven’t ovulated for 12 months.

It is often accompanied with mood swings, hot flashes, urinary complications, vaginal bleeding, fatigue, vaginal dryness, osteoporosis, and heart disease. Treatment varies with the individuals needs.

Pregnancy after Menopause

It is not possible to become pregnant naturally after menopause. However a woman can still become pregnant after menopause through In Vitro Fertilization. Since a woman no longer produces eggs after menopause she will have to either use donor eggs or to have previously frozen her own eggs prior to reaching menopause.

If you are a cancer patient about to undergo chemotherapy you may want to have your eggs frozen for future use due to the fact that chemotherapy can cause sterility. Likewise, if you have not had children, or think you may want more later in life, then you might want to consider freezing your own eggs to use in IVF procedures.

It’s #WorldChildlessWeek: maybe childlessness isn’t a choice

childlessness week is meant to raise awareness to an issue that you may be aware of. Just because someone doesn’t have children doesn’t mean they don’t want them, but it could mean they are unable to naturally. If a couple is trying hard to have a child and start their family the last thing they want to hear from anyone is a bunch of invasive, personal questions about infertility.

Why don’t you have children

When people ask questions like, “Why don’t you have kids yet?”, it is insensitive to the couple who may be trying hard to have children but are having fertility difficulties.

Of course there is no intended malice in the question, but they may be unaware that the person (or couple) that they are asking may be trying. Couples experiencing subfertility would like nothing more than to have a child, but unfortunately they are unable to without assisted fertility treatments or interventional measures such as fertility medicines.

You may be unaware

For these people the fact that they cannot have children is harsh enough, asking them why they don’t have children may only exacerbate any emotions they are struggling with on a very emotional period.

If someone cannot have children and they want to they are most likely dealing with some serious emotions. They may feel as if something is wrong with them or that they are undeserving of children. Of course these things are not true, but this may be how they feel.

Suffering in silence

Asking them questions about their childlessness is not only insensitive, but can be invasive no matter the intentions. Deciding on children is a personal choice and asking them questions about it may be an invasion of their privacy. Just don’t do it.

Signs of Infertility You Didn’t Know About (But Should)

Often it seems that your body will try to tell you if something is wrong. Pain is an indicator of this, getting your attention to the affected area. If you burn yourself cooking, pain signals immediately let you know that has happened, and where on your body it has happened. But sometimes these indicators can be more subtle, and so often they will go unnoticed unless you know what to look for. For example, signs that could be telling you about fertility problems may go unnoticed because you don’t know what to look for.

Signs of infertility

Difficulties during menstruation such as experiencing pain during, a period that seems to never end, or failure to have a period can all be indicators of infertility. Hypothyroidism (an underactive thyroid gland) can attribute to infertility.

Thyroid

Your thyroid is responsible for producing hormones that control your ovulation and menstruation cycles, so if it isn’t working correctly this can lead to infertility. Signs of hypothyroidism are having cold hands and feet, constipation, dry skin, fatigue, and memory loss.

Obesity

Obesity is an indicator of potential fertility problems. If your BMI is 30-40 you stand a very good chance of experiencing infertility due to being overweight.

Leaks

Leaking nipples are another indicator of problems, (Hyperprolactinemia). Unless you are pregnant or just gave birth you should not be lactating. This comes from an excessive amount of the hormone prolactin.

PCOS

If you are a female, generally you shouldn’t have an excessive amount of facial hair. Very thin, fine fuzz is one thing, but if you need a shave then it’s likely that you have PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). Another sign of this is that if you are losing hair from areas that you should have a lot, such as your scalp. Acne and problems with menstruation can also be indicators of PCOS.

STD’s

If you have a history of STD’s, specifically gonorrhea, you may have problems with fertility. The problem is that many women do not show symptoms of this STD. Symptoms can be pelvic pain, vaginal discharge, and bleeding mid cycle. If you have had unprotected sex and think you may be at risk, ask your OB to be tested.

Do You Gain Weight While Taking Vivelle Estradiol Patch?

Read any of the forums where women are currently taking any form of fertility med and you’ll see the inevitable discussion about weight gain while taking various meds, including Vivelle. Most of them are concerned at the weight gain, while others have indicated that they did not gain weight, or even lost weight. So what gives? Does taking fertility medications mean that you are going to gain a few pounds? And why does it cause weight gain in some, and not in others?

No Two Women React the Same on Fertility Medications
And that’s it in a nutshell. Each woman’s physical chemistry is different. In general, endocrinologists believe that what is happening is that in women who are peri-menopausal or menopausal, or where there is a hormonal imbalance to begin with, then there will be some weight gain. The key is to properly balance the progesterone to the estrogen levels. It’s a ratio thing, and not a numerical thing. This is because progesterone declines with age, moreso than estrogen. So, in some women whose estradiol levels are too high, in relation to their progesterone, then weight gain may result.

Why Patches are Better for Fertility Treatments
Most doctors agree that the transdermal patches, such as Vivelle, are a better delivery system because it bypasses the liver, and more closely mimics the uptake that nature intended. Plus, the bioidentical fertility medications (namebrand ONLY) are really key to maintaining the overall balance in the body. Buying generics will never leave you happy, and in the long run, could also be contributing to the weight gain.

Vivelle Experiences
Thebump.com
Patient#1: Her experiences with Vivelle were actually quite good. For the first time in many years she was able to sleep through the night, lost a bit of weight, and had energy. She is grateful for this particular fertility med.

Fertilitycentral. org
Patient#2: A woman reports that she was placed on the patch to increase the lining of her uterus, and that the Vivelle had increased it from a 5 to a 7. She changes the patch out every other day and is five weeks pregnant. As far as fertility medications go, she likes this one compared to others. She’s had very few side effects.

Fertilethoughts.com
Patient#3:  A patient is starting Vivelle for the first time and asks for advice from fellow forum posters. One woman responds stating that the glue is difficult to get off sometimes, but that she uses baby oil to remove it. Others state that they’ve been on them for several cycles and that as far as fertility meds go, there are almost zero side effects.

Preventing Miscarriage with IVF

It is possible to have a miscarriage after an IVF treatment and it's heartbreaking when it happens to you.  After working so hard to conceive, the last thing you want to happen is to miscarry.  The older you get, the harder it is to get pregnant.  It's even harder to carry a pregnancy to full term.  Is there anything you can do about it?  The answer is yes.  You can take steps to help prevent a miscarriage with IVF.

Preventing Miscarriage with IVF

Risk Detection

A good fertility clinic will run numerous blood tests on you before starting your IVF treatment to make sure there are no detectable issues.  There are standard tests they typically run, like LH and FSH.  Not all clinics check for the thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), which is a known cause of miscarriages.  Before you have an IVF treatment, insist that they perform a blood test for TSH, which can be medically treated.  Another test to insist on is a hysteroscopy.  This examination analyzes the uterine wall to see if there are problems, which can then be treated properly with IVF meds.  Having these tests done prior to the IVF may be uncomfortable or seem like an annoyance, but considering the expense of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), they are well worth the early detection.

IVF Drugs to Help Sustain Pregnancy

Progesterone injections are the most frequently prescribed IVF drug for maintaining the pregnancy.  It mimics the hormone your body naturally produces.  For anyone who has already had a miscarriage, your physician should automatically consider starting you on this medication.  If they don't, talk to them about including it in your IVF regimen.  Once you've been prescribed a progesterone injection, ask your fertility specialist where the best IVF pharmacy is near you.

Health Risks You Can Reduce With IVF Drugs

It's hard to see the health risks we create in our own lives.  However, you can do many things to improve your health on your own.  Restricting the amount of caffeine you ingest on a daily basis is important.  Avoid smoking, even second hand, as it is a known cause of miscarriages.  Reduce or eliminate how much alcohol you drink.  Don't take illegal drugs.  Do speak with your doctor before taking any kinds of medications, prescribed or otherwise, especially if you are taking IVF meds.  Stay away from infectious diseases.  Switching to a healthier diet, including healthy fruits and vegetables.  Try shedding excess pounds and adding some exercise to improve your body's overall condition.  Reduce stress whenever possible.

Patient IVF Experiences

community.babycentre.co.uk

Patient 1: This patient was terrified of needles, working herself into a bundle of nerves before the first injection.  Her partner assisted her by injecting the IVF medicine.  She was amazed to find there was only a slight sting when injected.  The rest of the shots were far easier and she found several ways to reduce the stinging sensation.  She feels her baby was very much worth the mild discomfort she experienced.

babycenter.com

Patient 2: This patient found the intramuscular injections were not nearly as painful as she expected and became easier after the first couple times she injected them.  As a result of using the infertility drug, she carried her baby to full term.

mamapedia.com

Patient 3: Tests confirmed that this patient had very low progesterone levels, so was prescribed intramuscular progesterone during both of her pregnancies.  She had a family member, who lived nearby, inject the fertility shots during the first pregnancy.  Her husband gave the fertility injections during the second pregnancy.  There were no further issues with the pregnancies and each baby was born healthy.

IVF Intralipid Infusion Treatment: How Many Treatments does it take?

Before we go over the process of intralipid infusion treatments, let us first explain what an intralipid is. An intralipid is simply a fat emulsion designed to be administered intravenously. It is made up of 10% soybean oil, 1.2% Phospholipids from egg yolk, 2.25% Glycerin, and water.

Why should you receive Intralipid infusion treatments during IVF?

Evidence shows that intralipid infusion treatments during IVF aids in successful implantation of the fertilized egg. Patients who have intralipid infusion treatments during IVF are as much as 50% more likely to achieve successful implantation than those who do not receive intralipid infusion treatments.

Another reason is because some evidence shows that receiving Intralipid infusion treatments during IVF reduces the chances of or stops NK cells (natural killer cells) from attacking the implanted egg. NK cells are specialized cells within the uterus that fight infection and destroy foreign cells.

How do intralipid Infusion treatments help during IVF?

Intralipid infusion treatments help during IVF in a couple of ways. One way is that they give a beneficial nutrient boost to the patient. Considering that optimal health is vital to successful IVF, this nutrient boost can be a great asset.

How many Intralipid infusion treatments should you receive during IVF?

Generally you will receive two treatments of Intralipid infusion, the first one about a week before your scheduled egg retrieval, and a second treatment the day of your implantation. However many fertility clinics will recommend more than two.

Some will recommend a third Intralipid infusion treatment upon a successful pregnancy test. Still others will recommend continuing Intralipid infusion treatments once a month for the first three months of pregnancy.

Patient Experiences with Prometrium for IVF

Prometrium is a brand of natural progesterone. They are prescribed as oral tablets but can also be used vaginally.

For IVF, progesterone supplements are an often-prescribed fertility medication. That’s because the egg retrieval process usually removes the cells that would naturally create the hormone after ovulation ends. Prometrium and other supplements can help thicken the uterine lining, which prepares a woman’s body to support and grow an embryo.

Here are some patient experiences with Prometrium.

Patient Experiences

Mothering.com

Patient 1: This woman started taking Prometrium after experiencing 2 miscarriages. She now has a healthy 19-month old daughter, which she thinks the Prometrium helped with immensely.

Babycenter.com

Patient 2: She is taking 100 mg of Prometrium per day orally for IVF. She isn’t experiencing any side effects. She wasn’t a fan of taking it vaginally before, but is happy with this method.

Patient 3: She took Prometrium for her last two pregnancies vaginally. She says the pills do dissolve and you don’t feel any discomfort from there. She had no negative symptoms, but said she had to take extra time to clean the vaginal area.

Patient 4: She’s been prescribed 200 mg of Prometrium daily after experiencing 2 miscarriages. She takes them vaginally, and has noticed that they make her breasts sore. However she took them orally before and experienced horrible side effects, so she recommends taking them vaginally.

Cetrotide, a Necessary IVF Drug

Among the infertility medications on the market today, Cetrotide is one of the most often utilized medications for IVF. This type of IVF drug is used in most cases to prevent premature ovulation, and are referred to as antagonists. There are other fertility medications that perform the same function, Lupron for example, but both Centrotide, and in many instances Antagon, are proscribed because of their ease of use and the resulting higher pregnancy rates.

Buy Cetrotide online

How Does Cetrotide Work to Promote Fertility?

Cetrotide works primarily on the pituitary gland which is responsible for releasing hormones that govern egg growth and development. With IVF the physician is attempting to prevent ovulation from occurring so that the mature eggs can be collected directly from the ovary prior to release.

Cetrotide and Ganirelix directly work on the pituitary gland in the body. The pituitary gland produces hormones that stimulate an egg to grow and mature. The reason a doctor wants to suppress the further development of the egg is to keep it from releasing before it can be collected for the IVF process.

Benefits of Cetrotide as an Infertility Drug

Many fertility drugs for women online include Cetrotide, and more of it seems to be sold than other similar types of medications. Prior to Cetrotide’s development, Lupron worked in a similar fashion, except that it caused a ‘flare’ phase to occur in the pituitary gland. In other words, the gland would produce hormones for several days at a high productivity rate, then the gland would shut down, or become suppressed. This tendency made Lupron a less favorable option when it came to fertility meds for sale, as it could delay the entire fertility process.

Cetrotide and Discount Fertility Meds
Cetrotide is readily found in the online fertility drugs market, and when purchased from a pharmacy specializing in fertility drugs, can be obtained at a significant discount. The benefit of Cetrotide over Lupron is that with Cetrotide there is no flare phase. As part of the IVF process, the first IVF drugs to be administered are those that stimulate the ovaries. Cetrotide follows shortly thereafter.

Cetrotide Experiences

Babycenter.com
Patient 1:  A woman reports that she was switched from Lupron to Cetrotide and wonders if she should be worried. Others respond that they had fewer side effects from the Cetrotide and that as far as infertility medications go, it has worked well for them.

Whattoexpect.com

Patient 2: A women new to IVF asks the others on the forum what she should expect from her first round of Cetrotide. Several respond that they used it in combination with other fertility medications and that they have had two pregnancies that went full term.

Fertilethoughts.com

Patient 3: A woman asks if Cetrotide is covered by most insurances. Others respond stating that their insurance did cover it but that there has to be a prior authorization well in advance. Many online IVF drug pharmacies will accept prescriptions from licensed doctors.

IVF Success Stories: Shari 33

After a decade- a fateful meeting brought us to our second child – Shari 33

With my first pregnancy being almost 10 years prior, we didn’t think it would be an issue when we wanted to have another child. Initially we thought we would just wait a few years, but then life just took over and suddenly it was several years that had passed.

We know life doesn’t always go according to your plan, but it just seemed nothing was happening in that department.

We let it go, thinking when our lives were ready it would happen for us. I had been on the pill for many years and was scared that it may have interfered with conceiving later on, when I was older in my 30’s.
But after a decade we decided to see a specialist. As we didn’t know how or where to start. We had asked my long time OBGYN and gotten an HCG test to check for a tubal blockage or other issues, but that turned out normal. She suggested it may be timing or stress induced. My husband said to have faith and we seemed to accept our fate.
I actually bumped into an old school friend who was ecstatic and very pregnant. I was happy for her, but couldn’t help feeling the emotions from failing to conceive. She asked if we had planned on having another child, maybe a boy this time as we had a girl. I had to admit our issues, and it all came out. As therapeutic as it was for me, I didn’t expect her to say she also had issues with her second child. She then said she went to Dr. Hope, whose named seemed to fit, and it seemed this meeting was our fate.
After just one cycle of IVF with assisted IVF fertility meds (Ganirelix injections and Estrace) and a single embryo transfer, I am happy to say we are 7 months pregnant! Our experience couldn’t have been better, we prepared ourselves by reading up on their websites information and the clear information presented there really helped soothe our nerves going in. I felt the customer service at IVFPrescriptions.com was very supportive and were there 24 hours a day for any questions and they were honest in the financial side so I didn’t have to stress over any surprises!
We are expecting the best gift ever this fall, thanks to that fateful meeting and that magic referral!
Please note that names are changed to respect privacy of individual who have shared their story!

Conquering Azoospermia with fertility medicines

When a couple decides to have children sometimes they run in to issues with infertility. Often the issue of infertility is with the female partner where she may be experiencing difficulties with ovulation or conception. Sometimes however difficulties with conception are not due to difficulties the female is having, but rather with difficulties the male partner is having.

Conquering Azoospermia with fertility medicines

Some issues that men may experience while trying to start a family can be:

  • Difficulty or inability in achieving an erection (Erectile dysfunction)
  • Low sperm count (Oligospermia)
  • Zero sperm count (Azoospermia)

If the male partner is not experiencing difficulties in achieving an erection yet conception is not occurring, he may be experiencing problems in his sperm count. Oligospermia is low sperm count, the testes are producing sperm and sperm is present in the ejaculate, but the numbers are too low for successful fertilization.

Another issue he may be experiencing is Azoospermia, which is basically a zero sperm count. While this means there are virtually no sperm in the ejaculate, this doesn’t mean the testes are not producing sperm.

Infertility

About 5% of infertile men suffer from Azoospermia. The condition usually occurs due to a blockage of the vas deferens. This means that while the testes produce sperm the passage is blocked and they are unable to reach the urethra to be ejaculated. This is considered a problem of emission, and can be from things like:

  • Neurological damage
  • Spinal cord damage
  • Diabetes

Literally, the sperm is unable to be pushed out the head of the penis so it will be pushed into the bladder and washed out with urination.

Identification by testing

To identify Azoospermia there are a series of tests involved. Blood samples are tested for levels of testosterone and follicle stimulating hormone. There are also tests performed on semen samples to determine if sperm are present at all.

If even just one sperm is identified in a sperm sample then it is still possible for fertilization to occur in a lab setting using ejaculated semen, usually boosted with a round of fertility medications beforehand for the optimal chances of IVF success.

If literally zero sperm are identified in the sperm sample then they may attempt to extract sperm directly from the testes to use. Only in very rare cases are there actually no sperm within the testes.

Causes of production problems

  • Testicular failure
  • Varicocele
  • Hormonal problems
  • Low testosterone

The good news

If there is even a small number of sperm in the testing sample, that is great news to behold and very significant in its value. This gives you 3 good answers to consider. This means that an obstruction is unlikely, the number of sperm can be amplified, and fertility increased by stimulating the production of viable sperm by the use of IVF medicines to get to that threshold where fertility can be achieved. It just takes one strong one for success!

How we can help

This is where IVFPrescriptions can help you. We have premium products that increase testosterone like the highly effective Follistim, which will increase the production of sperm. If you are not ready for the recommended fertility specialist’s strongest dosage in injections (Follistim 900 IU), we offer it in an easy to administer Follistim Pen

We do use licensed physicals to oversee filling prescriptions and only use FDA standardized suppliers to insure the highest quality in our products. Our IVFPrescriptions customer service representatives are here 7 days a week to help you order for administration in the privacy of your own home.

What Does IVF Treatment Involve?

Introduction:

IVF treatment used to help couples who have struggled to conceive children naturally. IVF treatment increases the couples’ chance of being able to have children.

What Does IVF Treatment Involve

The First Step -- IVF Medications:

The other important part of making this procedure work is the IVF medications you will be required to take before the procedure occurs. The goal is to balance the hormones in the body to allow the optimal chances for a pregnancy to occur.

Your doctor will do tests to determine which ivf meds will work best for you based on the condition causing your infertility. This will depend on which hormones you are deficient in as to which ivf medication you will have prescribed to you.

Once you receive a prescription for the medication you can come to www.ivfprescriptions.com to find cheap infertility medications online at our pharmacy which provides a 50-70% discount over the prescriptions you will find in a traditional brick-and-mortar pharmacy. IVF Prescriptions will take your order and provide the best ivf medication discounts available from any trusted pharmacy.

Once you take the ivf medications for the prescribed period of time you will be ready to move on to the actual IVF procedure itself.

What Does IVF Entail?

IVF includes a variety of different procedures all aimed at helping increase the chances of the couple conceiving a pregnancy. IVF treatment requires you to take ivf medications leading up to treatment. These medications are hormones that are injected into the body to attempt to balance hormonal levels to help the woman produce the most mature, viable eggs possible. This will also help the woman produce multiple eggs each month rather than just one so that there is a better chance of harvesting a viable egg during treatment.

After the hormones have been taken the eggs are harvested through a procedure that is generally pretty quick. The actual procedure itself should take about 30 minutes but may take up to 1 hour.

Your partner will have a procedure done where they harvest the sperm to mix with the egg. The egg and sperm will be mixed in a laboratory and closely observed by the clinic to ensure proper growth and meshing of the two cells. Once the advanced blastocyst stage is reached the IVF doctor will implant the embryo into the woman’s uterus through a catheter. This procedure is quick, relatively painless, and can transfer three embryos at a time.

After the procedure, you will be required to be monitored and on bedrest for about four hours after the treatment is over to ensure that you are OK to return home. The actual procedure itself should take about 30 minutes but may take up to 1 hour.

Approximately 30% of all cycles of IVF result in a pregnancy, although actual numbers can be higher or lower depending on a woman’s age and the condition that is causing infertility.

Conclusions:

IVF procedures have been giving couples hope of having their own children 1978 when the first procedure was successful. Today, there is a new front of hope for couples who want to have children but are finding themselves with fertility issues. Over 200,000 children are born through IVF procedures worldwide each year.
